If you don’t know them already, JROCK NEWS is one of the leading news outlets for Japanese rock music in the west and they are continuing to grow and expand everyday. So if you really like JRock I suggest you go check them out.
This is a little article I wrote recently when I was applying for the role.
On the 6th of February Esprit D’Air performed at Buffalo Bar in Cardiff from 19:00 until 22:30. The band met with a lot of positive reception in Cardiff as attendees of the event commented on their Facebook page that “Last night was amazing please come to Wales again”, and “The gig was awesome guys! Thanks so much. Wales loves you.”
After the gig many attendees posted Instagram posts about the event. @amberjazzys stating “Was so much fun seeing these guys tonight though I’ll be deaf until the morning.”
More and more rock/alternative music fans in Cardiff have become aware of this Jrock band and are wondering who they are and when can they get more.
At the beginning of 2018 the Band announced their Constellations tour, of which proceeded from the 5th of February to the 11th. Tour locations included London, Cardiff, Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle, Carlisle, and Glasgow. Their gig in Carlisle was sold out and the rest of their gigs also had a relatively high turnout, proving that their popularity is soaring with every day.
Who are they?
Esprit D’Air are an electronic Jrock and progressive metal band based in London, they’re aligned with StarStorm records, and currently have two albums (Constellations and Deai) out now.
Esprit D’Air are one those bands that you come across and become obsessed with instantly. This obsession with them is reflected by their growing popularity with 1.1k followers on Spotify that is growing every day. Perhaps it’s due to their futuristic and niche quality sound, the impressive artwork on their albums and merch, or the energy that the band brings with them. Regardless of the reason Esprit D’Air are a band not easily forgotten.
They initially formed in 2010 and were active till 2013 until they disbanded only to reform again in 2016. The band currently has 3 members: Kai (Guitar), Daishi (Drums), and Ellis (Bass). As well as two members that appear on tours: Ryoma Takahashi (Guitar) and Jan Vincent-Velazco (Drums).
Their debut album Constellations lead single ‘Guiding Light’ was listed on TeamRock’s best rock songs of 2017. The band itself was also debuted on TeamRock’s Metal Hammer and Classic rock magazine.
The Constellations Album
The Constellations album consists of the tracks Ignition, Rebirth, Guiding Light, The Hunter, Starstorm, The Awakening, Reminisce, and Versus. The album can be described as a complete “banger” as threesongsandout.com claims in their in-depth review of the album.
